The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is a well maintained and beautiful trek that leads you through ever changing landscapes from dense forests up into the high alpine and back.
By combining the Langtang Trek, Gosainkunda Lake Trek and Helambu Trek it lets you experience not only stunning mountain vistas, but also the sacred Gosainkunda Lake and villages of different ethnic groups, where you can discover the secrets of the local culture and spirituality.
Even though it has so much to offer, the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is one of the most easily accessible treks in Nepal.
Let's make memories for a lifetime together on this wonderful trail.

The itinerary for this trip is laid out such that we give our bodies time to acclimatise for the high altitude. That way we can minimise the risk of altitude sickness. I have completed the Langtang Gosainkunda trek using this itinerary many times and it has proven to be very effective.
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubeshi (1503m), the starting point of the trek. From the way, you can see beautiful scenery - raging rivers, terraced fields, typical Nepali villages, and snow-capped peaks. Syabrubesi is a bazaar town with much to explore, including riverside hot springs where you can relax.
We cross the suspension bridge across the Bhote Koshi River and via Khanjima we reach Sherpa Gaun (2563m) on a gradual trail.
The trail begins with a steep section on along a thrilling cliff, which will last for about one hour. After reaching Rimche, the trail gets more easy and we pass through lush green forests all the way to our next destination, Ghora Tabela (2972m). Watch out for Languor monkeys and red pandas on the way.
Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m), the main destination for trekkers in the Langtang Valley. The trail leads us gradually along the vast valley and on the way we get a perfect view of Langtang Lirung, a 7234m giant.
Today we stay for one day in Kyanjin Gompa (3870m) in order to give our bodies time to acclimatise to the altitude. We have all day to climb Tsergo Ri (5033m) or Kyanjin Ri (4773m) and in the afternoon we can visit the old monastery of the village.
We return to Lama Hotel (2500m) on the way we came from in the past days.
Trek to Thulo Syabru (2250m). While in the morning we still descend further, in the afternoon the trail finally starts ascending again. Finally it leads us to Thulo Syabru, the biggest settlement in the region which offers fantastic views of Langtang.
Trek to Chandanbari/Sing Gumba (3330m). A steep climb starts the day and the trail stays steep for the most part of the day. Climbing through forests we reach Dursagang, where big mountain vistas open up as a reward for the hard work. In Chandanbari we can visit one of the oldest cheese factories in the area.
Trek to Gosainkunda Lake (4380m). Again, a climb starts the day as we leave the forests behind and enter the alpine region. In the afternoon the trail becomes less steep and we reach Gosainkunda Lake, one of the most sacred places for Hindu people.
An early morning ascent to the top of Laurebinayak Pass (4610m), where we get to experience one of the best views on the trail, is followed by a steep drop into a new valley as the trek leaves the Langtang region and enters the Helmabu region. In the afternoon we reach Ghopte (3530m), our destination for the day.
Trek to Melamchi Gaon (2530m). Besides a small ascending section, we mostly spend the day trekking downhill. The new valley of Helambu offers views of the eastern mountains of Nepal. Melamchi Gaon, our destination for the day, is another huge settlement surrounded by forests and inhabited mostly by Sherpas.
Trek to Tarkegyang (2600m), the largest village in the Helambu region. It marks an incredible place to explore the special mixture of culture and spirituality of the Sherpa people and depending on your personal stamina, there are plenty of options for everyone.
We descend slowly through a beautiful forest towards Sermathang (2590m), which is the center of an important apple growing area. Also it offers fantastic views of the Himalayas.
After only about 3 hours trekking through terraced fields the trek reaches its end at Melamchi Pul Bazaar. From here we drive back to Kathmandu on the same day.
During our time on the trek we will sleep in so called Tea Houses. A Tea House is a small private lodging that is usually run by a local family. We will get our breakfast and dinner at the Tea House we are sleeping that night. For the lunch we will rest at a Tea House on the way. As the distances between Tea Houses are in general never more than 3-4h of trekking, we don't need to carry full meals.
Tea Houses are run by local families and offer basic comfort.
It is possible to choose from traditional Nepalese dishes like Dal Bhat or western food, like Pasta.
Please remember that while Nepalese people work very hard to offer the best possible comfort to visitors, the places you will visit are very remote and all supplies need to be carried by Mules.
I have found that the best experiences for my customers are those where I handle all the planning and bookings, ensuring that every detail is taken care of. That's why I offer all-inclusive packages, which take the stress and worry out of the equation for my clients. They can simply relax and enjoy their trek, knowing that everything is taken care of and that they are in good hands. I believe this is the key to a truly unforgettable and enjoyable experience in the Himalayas.
